Just to clear things out, the WIZnet chip is a TCP and PHY chip all-in-one. It takes care of TCP handling and MAC/Ethernet too. It should be much simpler to use that the PHY chip which do require to also write the TCP/IP stack (yes, there are a few available for free on the internet like uIP).
