Which pins for power supply

Hi
I am hoping to have a play using SPI with and Analog Devices
AD5206 digital potentiometer chip , but I have hit a snag.

It has Vdd, Vss and Gnd pins
If I use a single 5v supply do I use Vdd and Vss or Vdd and Gnd
or do I tie gnd and Vss together and use Vdd and Gnd/Vss

I havent come across this before so dont know which way to go

Parameter
Rating
VDD to GND
−0.3 V to +7 V
VSS to GND
0 V to −7 V
VDD to VSS
7 V

This would imply that if using a single supply, you can connect Vss and Gnd together and use Vss as the negative voltage pin if using a positive+Gnd+negative supply.

It is good to provide a link to a datasheet to save others having to first find one.
http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datasheet/analogdevices/140808745AD5204_6_0.pdf

Vdd = Positive power supply, specified for operation at both +3 V or +5 V. (Sum of |VDD| + |VSS| <5.5 V.)
Vss = Negative power supply, specified for operation at both 0 V or –2.7 V. (Sum of |VDD| + |VSS| <5.5 V.)
Gnd = Ground

EDIT: you can connect Vdd to +5 V and Vss with Gnd both to 0V
