VSM and diode mixing

Has anyone out there tried Hippy's diode mixing on VSM using 14M's.
I have a Master 14M polling two Slave 14Ms on one comms line with an acknowledgment being returned via a separate comms line. All works fine with each Slave connected to the return bus individually but when I connect the Slave outputs together using Hippy's configuration VSM responds with "Inputs on Master Input left floating".
I've tried all and sundry to no avail and can only suspect it may be VSM - HELP Please.

That is technically correct; when the diodes aren't driven by a voltage the inputs are effectively floating. Adding a resistor from the diode mixing point / input pin to 0V usually fixes any problems on a physical device where internal chip resistance doesn't do the job. Adding a similar pull-down in VSM may resolve the issue.

Alternatively an OR gate can be used to replace the diodes.

Thanks Hippy - I have tried the pulldown resistor to no avail. I will try the OR gate option.
