Yesterday the 28-2 shield was completely (hand) wired. Plugged in the board, connected the motor drivers, fired her up.
Everything works but....... one pin.
After spending HOURS searching for the problem, decided to change the chip.
That did it!
The chip has a bad pin!
I'm sure others could tell some similar tales....

I also understand your frustration.

When we start an electronic project, the path ahead seems straight: design, purchase parts, assemble, program, debug, enjoy. All too often, we diminish the potential size of the 'debug' stage - and that it involves both hardware and software debugging.

Yes, frustrating, but it's all part of the process. Well done for diagnosing and resloving the problem!

I have spent weeks resolving problems in projects - the most recent one involves redesigning a PCB with over 100 surface-mount devices involved. I'm now waiting for the new multi-layer PCB coming from overseas.
