Starter pack

Hi all,
Are the starter packs for one type of chip or can they do the lower chips?

ie. Can the AXE001 (for 28's) board do the 18 and 08?

or do I need one starter pack for each type of chip.

Thanks.

Lots of boards.

David. You'll need the AXE090 for the 08, 18, and 28 series.

Otherwise, the approach I and many others follow is to use

AXE021 08
AXE117 14
CHI030 18

AXE020 28
AXE022 28/40

Once wired, they are then very easy to connect together, via breadboard.

Obviously, the final choice is yours.
And, I'm sure you'll soon get lots of other advice.

Most of the boards can only take one physical sized type of chip. That is, a board which can take an 18 pin chip will be OK with the 18,18A and 18X chip.
The AXE090 comes with a prototyping area and can be used with the entire range of PICAXE chips with the exception of the 40 series. It my personl favourite for that reason. ie maximum flexibility but it also the most expensive.
You also need to consider what sort of projects you want to build/experiment with. There are several versions of board for the 18 pin devices. One has high current FET outputs for switching big loads. Another has less powerful outputs but more of them. There is also an H-bridge option (L293D) which can be used bi-directional control of small motors.
The datalogger board (another 18 pin board) is ideal if you want to experiment with sensors and store the results in memory.
As already stated, the choice has to be yours.
