SiLabs USB CP2102

I believe my main programming cable (prolific based) is failing... about every 8th character when using sertxd is corrupted. Programming still works fine though so I've lived with it. I'd buy the genuine PICAXE cable but seems a waste to immediately snip off the audio plug and solder on a three pin header housing as that is all I use. I have a couple CP2102 adapters that I've used to watch the serial but a pain to switch back and forth between that and my prolific cable to program. Should the SiLabs USB CP2102 be compatible for programming the PICAXE? I saw a note in PE6 revision about the CP2102 but mine still doesn't seem to work. Is there an illusive Silabs app like FTPROG to reconfigure the chip?

Connect the three pin header to an audio line socket and use that.

The CP2102 signals cannot be inverted via reprogramming settings, so you do need an external circuit similar to above.
