I couldn't see what chip-set that one uses.
It MUST be a set which supports the 'break' signal. eg Prolific.
Not all USB/serial converters support 'break'. PICAXE needs it.

I got it to work with my old cable I don't know why it stopped working in the first place but it works now I now it is the cable. So I can try the new cable coming this week
