The PICAXE-28 has been superseded by PICAXE-28A, and I don't believe it is available for purchase any more.

The PICAXE-28 and 28A can hold approximately 80 lines of code.

PICAXE Manual 1 "Getting Started", Page 10.

A PICAXE-28X can hold approximately 600 lines and can have 16 outputs.

To save time, have a look at the Manual 1 Getting Started and look at the section "Which PICAXE chip".

Manuals are always a good place to start.

PS: Snap!

Always choose a PICAXE by number of inputs/outputs required and then the number of lines. Also remember u can minimise the amount of code by using efficient commands and even writing commands on the same line. (this works for IF loop as per my knowledge)

thanks

Here is a great article on how to optimize your code to get the most programming in a small space... http://www.hippy.freeserve.co.uk/picaxeop.htm
