PICAXE chip labled 16F685?

I have programmed only the 16F84 PIC chip in the past, so when I found a 16F685 in my drawer, I was surprised. Could it be a PICAXE, and if it is, what is the PICAXE product name?

Reading the PICAXE manuals is always a good start/help. Manual 1 page 16 would answer your question:

PICAXE chip labels
PICAXE chips are pre-programmed and tested Microchip PICmicro™ microcontrollers.
More recent M2 parts are custom parts ‘factory engraved’ with the full PICAXE name. Other parts are simply ‘engraved’ with the Microchip part name.

PICAXE Type Engraving on top of chip
• PICAXE-08M PIC12F683
• PICAXE-14M PIC16F684

Absolutely.

Summary.
Stick it back in the drawer , or buy a compiler and programmer - well worth it for a quidsworth of PIC :)

Quid?

What is a quids worth of work? I am retired, so my time is worth next to nothing on the open market these days.

I looked at page 16 and then made the mistake of looking next at a similar post on the forum and got confused.

Thanks,
John

Sorry, I got it wrong.
Almost two and a half USD.

Anyway, it's still no use to you from the PICAXE perspective.

Dippy mate - time you updated. The exchange rate has been more like US$1.50 to UK£1 for years !

Oh dear , I'm living in the past....

I saw a 40's film the other day. A USD had the nickname half-a-crown.

The the last time I actually paid any attention was at the USAF base on Ascension in Oct 2007. It was just over 2US$ to the quidly. Which meant extra beer for the money.
All ASI except the US Base runs on GBP.
You have to get your priorities right :)

And I had a free ride on the General's boat - but don't tell the US Taxpayer...

What is all this ....?

Don't mind me guys if I get in the way: I am just the host at my own party.

I renamed 16F685 'Quidly Dippy' and buried him in the trash.

What is all this?

AFAIK, the best Forum around.

Wide ranging erudition,
hard scientific fact and experience,
with a blend of
whimsy, badinage and general fun.

Long may it continue. :)
