Picaxe 28X Not Working

I have 2 Picaxe 28X's and have tried to wire them on breadboard with only a programming circuit and resonator.

I know the programming circuit is OK,

The centre pin of the resonator goes to ground and the other two pins go to the resonator pins on the picaxe - is this correct?

Yes.

What error message are you getting?
Which PICAXE pins have you connected resonator to?
What value is your resonator? (what is written on it)
Have you got power/ground all connected properly.
What voltage power supply are you using?
Can you measure the voltage on the PICAXE pins?
Have you got the pullup in place?
Can you 'scope the resonator/PICAXE pins?
What have you forgotten?
