What is happening during the time the About... box is displayed during the PICAXE Programming Editor startup? Sometimes the PE startup is almost instantaneous other times it takes up to a minute.
Likely nothing more than a pause in an endeavour to give folks time to see the pop-up.
On a slower machine say with a AthlonXP 3200 (2.2 GHz) with 2GB RAM running 32 bit WinXP, I see the "About" window for about 5 seconds everytime.
However on say a PC with a 3.2 GHz i5 CPU, 4 GB RAM, running 64 bit Win7 it is virtually instantaneous everytime.
Sometimes Bluetooth drivers can cause long delays when serial ports are checked as the normal 'is the port there' test has the driver looking to see if it can make a connection to its paired device before it eventually announces there is no connection on that port.
16 com ports of various descriptions in Device Manager.
Is there a way to stop this less than desirable behavior? Perhaps a command line switch for progedit.exe to specify the port to use or restrict the posts scanned?
