Old code + New projects = Damaged outputs

How many experimenters inflict trauma on their PICAXE outputs ????

A project is assembled on the breadboard with outputs driving LED's etc, all is good then the project is dissmantled for whatever reason and the micro is put aside for days or weeks. A new idea comes along then the breadboad is built up and the micro is inserted, the pins that were once driving LED's are now connected to switches and other input devices which could possibly be connected directly to 5v or 0v, the old program is still onboard when the power is applied so the new program can be loaded but this may be too late if a short to 5v or 0v exists.

Oh Heck! I feel your pain!
But it’s a good that you’ve mentioned it in this Forum though. It will help others.
(And a very apt title for the thread here too)

I recall I might have mentioned that problem just over two years ago :)

Building a 'downloading jig' so a PICAXE can have its program memory cleared before it is installed into a new project will help.

Sorry to dredge up the past, a lot of new users may not think of deleting old code before starting something new which ends in
frustration and wasted money.
