MXL90614 problems

I'm having trouble trying to use a MXL90614 temperature sensor on a I2C bus.
I've tried reading the device using I2C address $5a and all I get is 255 regardless of the memory address used for the device.
I don't think the 90614 is responding at all.

When I try I2C address zero the hI2Csetup command seems to "hangup" and best I can tell never returns.

I tried entering the exact P.H. Anderson code with no success.

I have other Picaxe computers on a different I2C system and didn't have any trouble making it all work, but I can't seem to get anything from the 90614.

Would appreciate any help available.

I'm just testing the Melexis 90614 with a 20X2 and all the Peter Anderson code examples work fine for me. I'm using the MLX90614ESF-AAA-000-TU-ND which is the 5 volt version (option code Axx).
