LCD Malfunction

I have a 16x2 lcd connected to the revolution firmware chip, at power on, the lcd displays the "Serial LCD/Revolution c1998" then the screen fills with small triangles.


Any ideas?

I expect it's pickup noise on the input. Try tying that to +V or 0V via a 10K resistor and see if the triangles stop appearing.

do you mean noise on the input to the lcd or to the firmware?

If we are talking about the FRM010.
There is an error in the documentation.

Jumper 3 When closed the serial protocol is inverted, for direct connection to a PC.

I believe that it should read:
Jumper 3 When open the serial protocol is inverted, for direct connection to a PC.

Use N when jumper3 is closed.
Use T when jumper3 is open.

Someone correct me if I'm confused.
