hardware mem failure

Hi all,

I am playing with the experimenters board and a picaxe18X.Something funny is going on.If I download the program to the chip all is fine.If I hit F3(clear hardware mem) I get hardware varification faild(Byte 255)and possible causes.Any ideas? seems that if I get one error then I should not be able to use the chip at all.

It may be something as simple as your power supply.

Last night, with Vcc = 5V, I could use one of my 08's but not another, which I assumed I'd damaged somehow. After dropping the supply to 4.5V both were working perfectly.

Not the same as your problem, but may be worth trying a lower voltage supply and seeing if consistency returns.

Are you using the latest editor version?
I recall a while back that there was an editor bug related to the 'clear' command.

If downloading an 'empty' program works, then don't worry about it.
