ERF & URF questions

Hi all,

1 What's the average power consumption of the ERF module? Can this be reduced by disabling when not needed, and if so are there any disadvantages to doing that? I can think of one - over the air programming might fail.

2 Has anyone used a URF module successfully on a linux pc? Presumably if an AXE027 works ok...

3 How about URF on a rasb pi?

The ERF module consumes about 25ma on standby. You can disable the module using the CTS leg connected to a Picaxe output but will have an issue when trying to remote programme. The ERF modules do exactly what they say on the tin and are easy to use.

Thanks skatt. To me, 25mA sounds like quite a lot for standby.

Anyone in a position to answer questions 2 or 3?

The URF does work with Linux.

It should also be usable on the Raspberry Pi running Linux, however, it may require use of a powered hub due to the USB ports not being USB specification compliant and there may be issues relating to CPU USB hardware and issues in the USB device drivers. The last report I read was that it worked but then crashed the Pi. That was a while ago and some USB issues have been fixed / worked around since.
