I'm using econotmatics PIC-Logicator 2005 at a school. I'm getting the following message whenever I try to programme one of the models (e.g. traffic lights)

"Component 'comdlg32.ocx' or one of its dependancies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"

I also get a 'programming timeout failure' message as well.

Anybody got any ideas what's wrong with the setup???

It's a necessary file which is missing. The first step is probably to bring it to the attention of your teacher or whoever deals with 'broken computers'.

@ MartinM57 : Possibly, the semantics of the post suggest otherwise to me; "I use ... at a school" rather than "We/our students use ... at our school". But that doesn't mean my crystal ball is perfect. I have set to "best guess" mode :)

As always, the more (appropriate) detail that is given in a posting the better tuned the responses will be to what's needed and the quicker the problem will get solved.

Do you mean that if it's all spelt incorrectly, using poor grammar and no capital letters then it must be a seven year old?

Depends on the writer

Got the first email from my just-turned-six granddaughter this week. Much of the spelling is phonetic, but her sentences started with a capital letter and ended with a period - the ability to do this still exists ;-)

For most schools access is so restricted that even the staff have to operate over the network as do the students - in fact often have little better access. that's why I do most of my Internet work at home.

+ The school system is so very very SLOOOOOW as a result of checking and double checking every site for adverts, Porn, chat rooms, MSN etc, Hotmail, and a million other things that will corrupt the little darlings but they access at home

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm actually a design and technology technician and have been asked to try and get the pixaxe models working for the D&T department. I will speak to the school IT guys to see if they can solve the problem.

Well there you go ... I was wrong. Bad crystal ball, bad :)

Your IT guys should be able to sort the problem out. If not, send them here or ask yourself. All the best.
