Cheaper source for an LMD18200

G'day everyone,

I'm hoping someone can suggest a cheaper source for an H Bridge motor driver, LMD18200.

I can get it from Farnell for about $43Aus + tax. Seems a lot, although its a great chip for my application. Saves a lot of discrete design issues.

I have tried requesting samples, but have had no reply as yet.

Direct purchase from US probably the go.

Any ideas appreciated.

You haven't said what you need this chip for ie amps and volts of your motor. I had a quick look at the specs and see 3A 55V for this chip. Have you tried Microzed for the L298? it is Dual H-Bridge 2A 46V for $8.00, not sure if it enough for your application though.

$10 USD online in singles, a little cheaper if you fly here.
No tax in Oregon.

digikey has them for $11 in singles, $10.08in lots of 25, $8.89 lots of 1K

No tax, I have no idea about duty and shipping.

Thanks guys,

The L298 is not suitable in terms of current rating. I prefer the 18200 for its FET's - lower voltage and power losses than bipolar.

Now if I can just get free air fare to the US, problem solved.

Cheers
