Blinking Picaxe

I just wired up my 08M2 switching circuit on a strip boared and the next thing Iknow is that an indicator light that is supposed to be on all the time is now blinking constactly on its own. I used the standard pull down switch but upon checking I realized that Idid not include the 1K resistor going towards Pin 3. Has this ruined the Picaxe or can it be reprogrammed to get it working properly ounce again.The circuit worked while it was on a breadboard.

That would not damage the PICAXE - it would only cause the switch to be registered as pressed sometimes even when it isn't and it would function normally when you add the resistor.

Check that the Serial In download pin is tied to ground. If the problem does not go away after checking that and also redownloading the program and trying a different chip then post your code, schematic and photos.
