Axe230 and 08m2

I have an AXE230 and I would like to incorporate it into an N-Gauge miniature vehicle but the 08M needs 5 volts. The new surface-mount 08M2 would run on 2.4 volts, making the internal batteries very simple to achieve; in fact they are already there.

Is there going to be an "AXE231" (analogous to the AXE200 upgrade to AXE201) in the near future or do I need to demount the old 08M chip and attach a new 08M2? I am not in any great hurry, but it would be helpful to know if it is likely to be this year, next year or never. There doesn't seem to be a great deal on the forum regarding the AXE230 so I was wondering if it may be abandoned through lack of sales rather than upgraded.

The 08M2 is available in a non-surface mount package too so if there's enough room you can use that. You can also make your own AXE231 with a small bit of stripboard, the surface-mount 08M2 and some resistor off-cuts soldered to the pins of the surface-mount chip and connected to different holes in the stripboard.

Greetings jedynakiewicz,

I have sent you a private message.

But I believe the 08M will work down to less than 3 volts.
