Automotive applications

This topic raised its ugly head again recently and reference was made to an earlier lengthy thread. All good advice.

I stumbled on this link and thought it would be useful. It actually quantifies the various noise found in the automotive power supply and offers useful suppression methods.
I don't know how available these devices are to hobbyists.
It also has useful insight into soldering techniques. Worth a look.

Interesting!

There's a whole load of stuff at
http://www.littelfuse.com/cgi-bin/r.cgi/en/know_content.html?ContentID=86&WhichApp=2

If you then go to http://uk.farnell.com and type LITTELFUSE VARISTOR into the serach box, then there's 177 matches...just need to know which one to use in a typical automotive environment!

That would be very useful to know....
