additional 18x output?

I had a quick search but couldnt find anything, so is there a way of poking a register to make either the serout download pin or another input pin on an 18x into a digital output?

I can't easily use any form of multiplexing and don't really want to use a 28x, I could use a separate 08 but would like to keep to one chip

Poke $05,%00001000 to set the 18X serial output pin high. Poke $05,0 to reset it low.
