For some strange reason 'acrobat reader' does not "compute" when I try to download various info that I need to help me clear up problems. It has worked before at other siteshttp://www.picaxeforum.co.uk/images/smilies/frown.gif
Sorry for that, What I meant was that if I want from the list, the answer by the computer is: 'cant launch acrobat reader'. I have never had a problem like this before, only on 'picaxe'. Therefore I am not getting a lot of info that would help me out. I wish they had put enough information to direct novices like me.Sorry, but what does 'compute' mean?
Do you mean download gets stuck? Does your PC crash? Does an error message come up?
Do you have Adobe Acrobat installed on your PC? If not go to Adobe website, it's free.
After looking and delving round the computer I eventually found 'datasheets'. Tried to open them up - 'cannot be found'. What ever happened PDF files loading down everywhere else?I agree with BCJKiwi about Acrobat reader having become bloatware, I stuck with Version 4 which does what I want how I want but more PDF's are becoming incompatible with it.
If the Programming Editor won't launch the reader, you can open the PDF files directly from disk. They will be within the installation directiry which is likely to be -
C:\Program Files\Programming Editor\datasheets
I started to follow the instructions to get my "free" foxit PDF reader but I had to enter my credit card info and buy something then they will give me my free foxit reader. I am beginning to think I've thrown away my money on a board I know nothing about. )f course I would like to down load further information.......I seem to be going round in circles. I'm a novice with no help from PICAXE them selves.http://www.picaxeforum.co.uk/images/icons/icon13.gifYou could just uninstall the Adobe reader which has in my view become bloatware.
A very good alternative is Foxit PDF Reader. This is small, fast, fully functional, and, has free and paid versions is available here;

Dippy, in desperation I un- installed anything to do with adobe reader, switched off,on again and installed as per PDF lists on picaxe product page. It worked fine, I can a load more now. (I was an inch away from pulling my hair out)http://www.picaxeforum.co.uk/images/smilies/biggrin.gifOh dear. Maybe its free somewhere else? Personally, I have no problems with Adobe 5,6,7. It can 'bloat' as much as it likes as it works perfectly on all PCs I've ever used.
I can't speak for all bits of software but some do a shell type command looking in a specific place. So, I was just wondering if you'd installed your Adobe in an odd folder/directory.
Personally, again, I'd go to www.adobe.com and try installing latest unless you have an '80s PC like hippys

(though I would uncheck/untick the photoalbum which is heading towards bloatificationability)
.. just a suggestion.

Rev-Ed (PICAXE) along with everyone here will try and help as much as they can but some of these things are out of the hands of Rev-Ed. If clicking on a PDF in Explorer doesn't work then there's something gone wrong with the Adobe installation, with Windows or something else.I seem to be going round in circles. Hello Hippy,Rev-Ed (PICAXE) along with everyone here will try and help as much as they can but some of these things are out of the hands of Rev-Ed. If clicking on a PDF in Explorer doesn't work then there's something gone wrong with the Adobe installation, with Windows or something else.
Rev-Ed have a business to run and that business is not fixing whatever problems Adobe, Microsoft or anyone else may create. There's only so much they can do no matter how much they'd like to help.
