A cautionary tale.

A cautionary tale to amuse?

Monday.
I thought that I'd like to make another greenhouse monitor.
Now, I'm absolutely perfect, but, just in case,

I ordered two Sensirion SHT11 RH/Temp sensors.
http://www.sensirion.com/en/pdf/product_information/Datasheet-humidity-sensor-SHT1x.pdf

(8 pin SOIC? I could do that............. )

From another supplier, I ordered five SOIC-DIP8 adapters.
Tuesday. Adapters arrive. Perfect condition. Exactly as specified.

Thursday (today), the SHT11 chips arrive.

I took pictures of my new toys. See pic. 1 and pic. 2
Although I've pictured the bottom of the chip, do you see my problem?
Duuh.

Luckily, I have a cunning plan B. (for real).

And, luckily again, I don't mind spending money to learn
(Or, I couldn't give a monkey's about the cash.)

And yes, it is all my fault. And I said a naughty word.
But, it might help or amuse. :)

A Dremel with a composite cut-off wheel. Problem problem solved!...unless...you're going to ordered a thousand? ;)

I didn't bother with the adapters.
Saving them for something else: eventually.

I used plan B. It's working so far.
