When I look into a project of 8x8x8 led cube I find numerous cubes using the arduino boards but I haven't seen any for a picaxe board. Can anyone point me to a picaxe 8x8x8 cube? I would really appriciate it.

I've not seen an 8x8x8 run from a PICAXE, only one using the PICAXE as a front end to an Atmega : http://8x8x8ledcube.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/7-making-cube-work-using-picaxe-chip-to.html
An 8x8x8 cube is 512 LEDs. This is fewer LEDs than I used in my orrey, and that had a 40X2 as it's only active component, so it's a good bet that a cube this big could be done.
Are you up for a challenge ?.
