08M / 14M 9600 bps

Hi,

I'm expecting the answer to be a distinct no, but is there any way of getting the 08m/14m to do 9600 bps comms? I'm currently running at 4800 by changing to setfreq m8, just wondered if it could be pushed further.

Cheers

Hi Ciseco,

It can be done on both chips if you use SERTXD command at 8MHz instead of using SEROUT, because SERTXD works at 4800 baud at 4 MHz (see also the manual). This solution is thus available, but on only one pin

Just out (You need the SERRXD to do input at these speeds, an that is only available on 20M and X1/X2 parts)

Note that the X and X1/X2 parts support SERIN/SEROUT at 9600 Baud with 8 MHz.

The 14M supports 4800 baud for SERIN / SEROUT so using SETFREQ M8 will allow two 14M's to communicate bi-directionally at 9600, and one-way from 08M (SERTXD) to 14M. The user manual is out of date when it says 4800 baud is only available on X-parts.

Also, although it's not documented in the manual, the 14M appears to support SERRXD. The compiler accepts it but I've no idea if it works.
