"Outputs:
Each output can sink or source 20mA. This is enough to light an LED but will
not, for instance, drive a motor. Total maximum current per chip is 90mA."
My question:
Does the 90mA per chip limit apply to the 40X2?
Sourced through chip : 200mA
Sunk through chip : 300mA
Sourced for all ports combined : 185mA
Sunk for all ports combined : 200mA
Sourced or sunk per pin : 25mA
Not as confusing as those figures which state maximum rating for ports greater than for the chips !
For this case I guess what it's saying is that I/O current through the ports cannot be greater than 200mA or greater than 300mA minus whatever else on-chip peripherals are using.
