Wooden Robot Dinosaur Kits

These kits are a bargain at just $20 (free ship) here in the states. I just got one and look forward to assembling it. Nice walking/steering/lunging actions with electronic growling sounds. They come complete with IR/sound/light control. And yet I know shortly after building it I'll hack into it and add a microcontroller. Certainly nice starting point for someone's first PicAxe project. BTW this US seller is cheaper than any China seller I have found. At the rate Gareth is cranking out robots, he may hack this before I do. :)

Oh to dream of a Laser cutter.............
My son has a bus made in this style..... (nono not hacked....yet).
The Big plus factor with these wooden structures is they are very strong and lightweight (even with no glue our bus is rock steady)
I like the soft wood approach and as a desktop companion these creatures have a lot of potential....

These are actually die-cut, not laser. A beautifully tight press-fit from the plywood blank. I haven't actually assembled it yet, still marvelling at the accuracy of the die-cut process. The T-Rex looks so nice that of course I had to order the Triceratops. For our twins, of course. :)
