Ultra command

Hi, all.
I'm playing with a HC-SR04 ultrasonic sender/receiver and have been looking on the forum for previous posts. I have found references to an "Ultra" command but I can't find out what this is. Could it possibly be an obsolete command?

Thank you, Aries. Even with the link it wasn't easy to find on the website. I shall look through the list to see if there are other useful commands that aren't in the manuals.

Yeah, I've had the same problem at times. Its like when you know someone lives on this street, but you don't know the house number! :D

Welcome, thunderace7. The ULTRA command works great, and those ultrasonic sensors are dirt cheap: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33035037417.html

You'll need to mod your sensor for one-pin mode (add a 1.8K resistor) to use with ULTRA. See technical's comment at https://picaxeforum.co.uk/threads/hc-sr04.22639/post-223675 Simple and effective.

Edit: A bit of Googling later, I found a similar "hack" for this sensor, but more involved. It involves removing a SMT resistor from the sensor in addition to adding a 10K resistor. An unnecessary complication IMO, since I have modded over a dozen sensors with technical's simpler solution, and all work fine with Picaxe and BASIC Stamps. https://www.cascologix.com/2015/09/19/hc-sr04-ping-sensor-hardware-mod/

Here's some fun I had with an 08M2, a dollar sensor and a dollar voltmeter:

I've not had time to study the Ultra command yet but I will. I will also read the whole of that section of the manual to see what else I have missed.
