Two pin infrared receiver connection

I want to connect a two pin infrared receiver but don't how to connect to Picaxe input pins. I've seen plenty of examples using the three pin receiver. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Depends on what type you've got.
Could be as simple as a pullup resistor, might need a whole lot more.
Part number? Datasheet?

Measure the resistance with and without IR signals. Is one leg longer than the other? If so, it is negative.

But the simplest connection?

So would it be +5, resiter, Infrared diode to input pin in the simplest case?

If that's the type you've got, then yes. Worth a try.
If nothing happens, then you'll have to get the datasheet and read.
