Simulating Electrolytic Capacitors

Hi,

I have built a really basic circuit from a training manual using electrolytic capacitors with transistors as an oscilator and VSM just does not seem to want to simulate it correctly.

I read in another post that VSM treats electrolytics as ideal and suggests setting a precharge voltage but I cannot work out how to do this.

Is it me, surely there must be a way to simulate electrolyic capacitors, they are such a common component.

Any guidance most appreciated.

To 'kick' an osccillator into life you need to precharge one of them a bit. This is because in simulation the parts are 'ideal' and charge at exactly the same rates - whereas in real life they are not.

Right click over the part, select edit properties.
Click the 'Edit all properties as text' box

Add this line
{PRECHARGE=xx}

where xx is the precharge value,you may need to experiment a bit to find an ideal value for your circuit
