PicAxe FGC GLIC-K Graphic LCD Chip

The PicAxe documentation refers to a Graphic LCD Interpreter Chip, GLIC-K, manufactured by FGC. It looks to be quite a powerful chip but I have not found a distributor. I contacted FGC and they indicated that they do not sell to the 'end user'. I cannot find anyone who sells this chip. Anyone out there have any suggestions?

I too only today have been trying to find this chip, but am struggling. LED042 does look suitable, but all I need is the chip because I am able to get everything else necessary a lot cheaper. If anyone has some look in getting hold of one, please let me know.

That datasheet certinatly makes the whole job look easy, so if I were to buy a chip, does anyone see any reason why I could not wire it up to a nice cheap GLCD with a KS0108 interface from another supplier?

If you can find the chip and the ancillary parts which make up the AXE042 then I don't see there being too much of a problem in making your own interface to a compatible display.
