Pan/Tilt CCTV controller

Hi all

Can anyone point me to the electrical spec for the control of the sort of pan/tilt camera-stand used for CCTV. These seem to have a single coax connection. Has anyone built a picaxe based iinterface. I want to control one of these remotely using a Simplelan connected to a picaxe.

Thanks

One that I made was based on RC servos.

Can you give the model number or any other information you have about this interface?

Are you sure the coax connection isn't just the video? Many cameras have an automatic pan and tilt, where it is not controlled - it just operates in a loop.

use to work in cctv and we used a few systems but all commands went along the same coax cable with the video signal, these telemetry transmitters/receivers put the data onto the video and takes it off at the other end, each camera make had its own set of commands so you will probably have to look into the data sheet for your pan/tilt receiver, I presume it was in the form of serial data rs232/rs485

Telemetry

Telemetry systems allow control of cameras and their associated equipment from the remote control locations. The telemetry transmitters and receivers send the commands from the operator to the camera head, telling the camera to rotate, zoom wash, etc. The commands are transmitted either through the coaxial cable or over a separate path. Various models are available with specialised outputs for different situations
