O Tempora O mores.

Amazing how strange times encourage other thoughts.

I found an old post of mine from 11 years ago.

Then, amazingly, I have found two touch screens!! ** See post #3 for correction ****

One “naked”, and the other attached to a Picaxe 08 board.

If you’ve got this far after my deliberate circumlocution

then the same rules apply.

But better jokes please. : -)

OK, here's my idea.

Updating a 10.4" screen at a decent rate will be a struggle for a little PICAXE.

So, let's just use a fixed display, like a maze.

Now we use the touchabilty to detect the location of a real ball bearing rolling around on the screen.

Object is to tilt the screen, keeping the ball bearing within the screen lines, and make it through the maze.

Note : To test my idea I tried to control a marble on a small tray. Results were not good.

I think it may be necessary to coat the screen with a thin layer of syrup ( not treacle, you can't see through treacle ) to slow the marble enough.

Anyone got any better ideas ?.

From my post of April 20 2009 "Rare creature. Free, to a good home."

Now there's a brace of them. : -) Touch PADS (Sorry for my earlier typo)

Please read Wilf Rigter's brilliant article that's in the 2006 / 2009 posts.

I originally planned to use one as a controller for an XYZ mini-miller,
but as usual, Achievement does not always follow enthusiasm . ; -)

PS It's nice to see a lot of 2006 and 2009 members still here.

Are you sure they are just touchpads ?

10.4" seems awfull big for a touchpad.

Are they maybe digitisers, might need a stylus ?

Re: 2006, my status says 2009, but I'm sure I've been here longer than that.

I'm just following Wilf Rigter's nomenclature.

I am FAR from expert and I follow recipes.

It sure feels like I've been here for more than eleven years.

Wasn't there a previous version of the forum, and we all had to reset when it switched over ?.
