Anybody know where I can get a small component that would play a 1minute/2minute musical piece as an output that can be uploaded onto it from a pc/mp3 player?

Its for a picaxe 18x board.

Any help/links greatly appreciated:DCheers

There is also the SOMO 14d module from 4D systems.

There are threads on this forum from a few members who have got this up and running.

What quality of music output are you looking for ?

If you don't need really high quality then take a look at
the APR6016 IC.

The SOMO 14D as mentioned by PerthEng is a good module.

There is a thread here: http://www.picaxeforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=13971&highlight=SOMO
With a lot of data that grogster, goom and myself and compiled.
Some care needed to ensure a compatabile memory acrd but we have a list with some to buy and some to avoid in the thread.

The 4D Systems website has a small piece of software that is used to convert the mp3 files to mono AD4 format which the SOMO 14D uses. Up to 2GB and up to 512 audio tracks can be played from a single uSD card

See here for European and in particular UK distributors:
