how it works inputs, max6953epl+

hi i was told to look at the max6953epl+ chip for driving a matrix so i did and i found out what it does and i even tried a sample and got a free chip sent which was kool but when i was looking it doesnt tell you about the three inputs which control the matrix so i was wondering if any one knew if the chip can be pogrammed or do the three inputs controll the matrix and does anyone have some sort of data sheet or a table telling me what inputs to toggle to in oder to get a certain row or column on in the matrix thanks any help will be great thank a lot

Connect the chip's SCL and SDA leads to the Picaxe SCL and SDA leads, and drive the chip using the Picaxe's I2C commands.
