Helicopter IR format

I was given one of thse inexpensive remote control helicopters as a present, after an altercation with my cat, it won't fly any more

Like most cats, which have no sense of humor, it didn't appreciate being buzzed by the helicopter.

I was wondering if anyone knew what the format is for the infra red signal that it uses. Seems like somethig could be done with the remote.

Yup, my feline found it to be a purr-fect controller for the copter.

Connect a simple phototransistor-resistor circuit to a CRO to view the code signal from the transmitter.

If you don't have a CRO then you can use audio spectrum anaylzing software to view the signal. A good program is called 'True RTA'.
