Cheap DX Scopes

I own the DS1102E, which is the 100 MHz version of the DS1052E. Actually their hardware is identical, the difference is on the firmware which limits the 1052 to 50 MHz. There is (or at least used to be) a software hack to upgrade the 1052 yourself (look for Rigol on www.eevblog.com), but I'd expect Rigol to eventually plug that backdoor. I can attest that this instrument is well made (the internal board layout, shielding etc. is a beauty) and works well - and meets all specs as far as I have tested them. Definitely better than much of the typical China ware. Rigol actually manufactures some of the low-end Agilent and LeCroy scopes, which then get sold at twice the price compared to akmost identical Rigol scopes.
