AXE090 error

I hope someone can help me here Please

I am new in Picaxe and did buy AXE090 from Sparfun

I am finish to put it to gather and I got the power light on ,
when I tray to connect from serial pic programmer I only go error I connect it with USB
I select right Com port port 9,

Do I need to power the pic up or do the chip get power from the board ?

If I hold down the reset then I can read the firmware

an if I want to run from Picaxe when I need to hold down the reset button

Looks like the error one gets while trying to connect to the Rev-Ed PICmicro programmer BAS800 or using some software other than the Programming Editor.

With the Programming Editor and the AXE090 connected with the download cable pressing F5 should download and program the PICAXE.

As Hippy says, you are incorrectly trying to use the Serial PIC Programmer software, which is for programmer part BAS800 only. Use the PICAXE Programming Editor software instead for the AXE090.
