1-Hour Robot

Playing around with some 3D printed ratchet wheels (ergo, the clicking sound). I slammed this 08M2 1-servo wiggle walker together in an hour yesterday using paint sticks, a tongue depressor, super glue and an MG-995 servo (AKA the world's worst servo). Hardly a dead reckoning champion but decent results in 5 minutes of programming to do a figure 8. This would be a great starter project for kids. Especially now with home school still going on!

Pretty good for one servo!

This gives me the idea to have a three wheel robot with a simple DC motor.

If you use two ratchet wheels and one regular wheel, and put them on the corners of an imaginary triangle like this:
Code:
                        ------- Normal Wheel

              \ | | /
Ratchet Wheel .\-----------------------/. Ratchet Wheel
                \ /
A DC motor connected to the normal wheel could spin back and forth to move the car forward, and spin in only one direction to turn the car.

Good call, RNovember! I have done that. Works well after some tweaking of chassis geometry and weight distribution. Also, using an omniwheel in back is advantageous.
