    Project Board outputs

No worries! Thanks. I have been experimenting with transistors and still have some weirdness happening so my next step will be optocouplers. I can't see how they could have any problems! Many thanks, Bruce

    Project Board outputs

Hi Alan, thanks for that. I was wondering if I should use a transistor to do the switching, but just wanted to make sure that there was no way to use darlington directly. I didn't want to needlessly duplicate functions. Thanks again, Bruce

    Project Board outputs

Hi, I am hoping that this question is not too stupid!!! I have looked through the manuals..... On the project boards (the 18 for example) the outputs from the darlington chip are negative (0 volts) and then there is a common + rail. My problem is that I have a camera with three connections - a...

    Monitoring an intermittent input

    Great! Tanks very much!!!

    Monitoring an intermittent input

Actually, I might need a hand with the syntax!!! :-)

    Monitoring an intermittent input

Excellent, thanks very much! Makes perfect sense.

    Monitoring an intermittent input

Hi, I have a PIR sensor that provides an intermittent output (goes on and off) when detecting a target. When it goes high the first time, I want to turn a video camera on. I then want to keep the camera on for as long as I am getting that intermittent signal. The time between the intermittent...

Simple connections to the AXE117 project board

I should have looked at the next page!!! It deals with the Darlington. That might be answering most of my questions. I need to work out how much current flows in that camera shutter circuit.

Simple connections to the AXE117 project board

I just went back to Manual 3 which discusses interfacing circuits and I see on page 6 that there is a circuit diagram showing a transistor interface. So that's all very good, but my board is the AXE117 project board and it has a ULN2003A Darlington chip on it. Part of the problem I have is that...

Simple connections to the AXE117 project board

Thanks everyone! Too many comments to respond to each one! The project by Oracacle - high speed photography - is pretty much what I am doing, so I might check that out. An opto isolator may well be the go! cheers, Bruce

Simple connections to the AXE117 project board

Ok, I am not sure what you mean (even though it's a very basic question!!!) ... If I have the camera circuit earthed to the picaxe ground (0 V), then I would be pulling the 3.5v to common? Yes, good idea about the dummy battery!!! Ta.

Simple connections to the AXE117 project board

Thanks Buzby, I did read that but will look again. Alan, I am firing a camera and need to close two separate circuits. The first is the "1/2 press" or focus circuit and the second is the one that actually fires the camera shutter. It's important that I separate the two functions and have...

Simple connections to the AXE117 project board

Hi, I have never done this before, so please bear with me!!! 1) I need to turn an external circuit (about 4 volts) on and off. Is there a circuit diagram that I an refer to for this that shows me a layout? 2) I have a number of inputs - pins that I need to set high or low using internal...

Chip non-responsive and nowhere to go!

Hi, I have been running two simple circuits with O8M2 chips and all has been working quite well. Then I decided to change the script and upload it - a very simple change. I then uploaded and the circuits are now dead. I have no idea why! A quick explanation of what I have done - reinstalled...
