    Editor locking up during simulation

The OS has nothing to do with your "problem". Computing power is what counts. The fastest a program can go is when it hogs all the resources. You're asking for a program that goes as fast as it can without hogging all the resources. You need DEEP BLUE. Much ado about nothing.

    Editor locking up during simulation

On my old and slow computer, running arch-linux-based endeavor OS, the simulator works at #simspeed 100, but blocks everything else in PE6. Maybe it's just a question of computing power and Rev-Ed are waiting for technology to catch up!

    Editor locking up during simulation

I changed desktops from gnome to mate and now I have the names on the buttons! But PE6 is too bloated and sluggish for this old computer.

When does 'beta' turn to 'alpha' ?

Why not go back to PE5? Or axepad? I counted 135 employees in the raspberrypi foundation. I don't know how many there are in raspberrypi trading. They're the competition now. The five people at Rev-Ed are not going to bother with "cosmetic" bugs when they've provided all that's needed to compile...

    Editor locking up during simulation

I'm pretty sure it's a font problem too, but I'm sticking with axepad so I'll leave it there. I hope we'll here from other linux users. I'll give my son a high five on your behalf! :)

    Editor locking up during simulation

Hi, I couldn't get PE6 to work. I told one of my kids and he had PE6 up and running half an hour later! He used the arch-based endeavor OS running in virtual box. So I installed endeavor on my old laptop and did as I was told: Install wine and winetricks Install Picaxe Editor...

    Editor locking up during simulation

Hi, I joined the forum a few months after that thread ended, so I never saw it. So you've been running a Microsoft-proof PE6 for 10 years with no problems? If so, I might have a go at following your instructions on an old laptop, just for the hell of it. I still prefer the simplicity of axepad...

I don't know how to do this, please help me work it out.

There's a full explanation of what PhilHornby says on pages 215 to 217 in the picaxe_manual2. From what I've been told, you should be able to understand it if you run it on the simulator.

    Editor locking up during simulation

When I was trying to get PE6 to work with linux, I got a pop-up window telling me there was an error in the IL code. I didn't get that with PE5. As for the simulator, I wasn't expecting anyone to agree with me. But even in a classroom, it wouldn't be of much use without a teacher. I use...

    Editor locking up during simulation

I can't see the sense in simulation. It doesn't stop you putting wires in the wrong holes on your breadboard. Editor 5.5 doesn't have the IL problem that Editor 6 had (and probably still does). IL is short for Intermediate Language, which is short for Microsoft Intermediate Language. Them again....

    Timer circuit request

With a DFPlayer mini you wouldn't need a timer. Just check the BUSY pin to see if the message has finished playing.

    Bug report : 1 Mar 2020 : PE6 Terminal, control character behaviour ?

I use LinAXEpad so I'm not complaining about the lack of PE7 either. I don't even use PE5 which works on linux. I don't like whistles and bells. I was emitting a few camouflaged hypotheses: If Rev-Ed is really working on PE7, they're not going to bother (waste money) fixing "cosmetic" bugs...

    Bug report : 1 Mar 2020 : PE6 Terminal, control character behaviour ?

I would have fallen out with a developer who wrote buggy code for me, and then refused to fix it. But falling out is childish and the people at Rev-Ed are big enough to give someone a second chance. That's why the PE6 developer is currently hanging by his reproductive organs at Unit2, Foxcote...

How do we use an IR remote control & detect multiple button-presses?

Yeah. Over 100 commands to a picaxe. My imagination stops at: forwards, backwards, left, right, start, stop, faster and slower. Probably the easiest way to increase the number of commands available would be to use other buttons to send the program to different sub programs where 10, 20, 30, etc...

How do we use an IR remote control & detect multiple button-presses?

Hi, My interpretation of the question is: given the Sony protocol doesn't have a toggle bit, like Philips, or a repeat code, like NEC, how do you distinguish between a button held down and a button pressed several times? On the receiving end, the Sony protocol is as sloppy as orphanage...

Is there a known problem with the AXE027 drivers and Windows 11?

My guess for the timescale, in your case, would be something like a quarter of an hour. Or if you don't want to change the PID, maybe something like a quarter of a year...😴
