Using 2-lead bi-colour LEDs with PICAXE

The orrery display was 'auto-designed' by a VB program that calculated all the relevant wiring and LED positions. There was no way I could have even contemplated planning that by hand. The pinball was done exactly the opposite way !. The APA102 LEDs were all put in place and wired by the...

Your HT1632C solution is 'distributed processing' !.

Using 2-lead bi-colour LEDs with PICAXE

I still think either multiple simple PICAXE modules or addressable APA102 LEDs will be the best solution. Trying to 'beef-up' the Charlieplexing will create lots of unexpected problems due to mis-matched resistances. Charlieplexing is *very* fussy in this respect. When I built the orrery I...

Has anyone tried ultrasonic distance measurement by PICAXE alone, not using SRF005 etc ?

Sorry, I misunderstood. Yes, a long delay in the mobile between RX and TX would work.

Has anyone tried ultrasonic distance measurement by PICAXE alone, not using SRF005 etc ?

Hi hippy, I fully understand the delay to ignore echoes, but if I need a range capability of from, say, 2m to 20m, and I have an echo from a wardrobe at maybe 8m, then I need to delay 8m to ignore echo. Now I can't measure down to 2m ! Indoor measurements are going to be full of spurious...

Has anyone tried ultrasonic distance measurement by PICAXE alone, not using SRF005 etc ?

Well, I'm in my hotel room, and think I've discovered a problem. The mobile unit is about 8m away, but the base unit is picking up reflections of the initial pulse from things in the room closer than 8m. These reflections are as powerful as the response from the mobile, so I can't filter them...

Has anyone tried ultrasonic distance measurement by PICAXE alone, not using SRF005 etc ?

Hi All, Couldn't do any work on this for the last two weeks, so today was my first 'distance capability' test. Getting about 12m reliably outdoors, but the receiver needs to be pointing directly at the transmitter. I'm fairly certain that boosting the TX supply will get more range, but I'm not...

Using 2-lead bi-colour LEDs with PICAXE

Dual lead bi-colour LEDs are perfect for Charlieplexing, but not so good for Multiplexing Did you see my Orrery ?. https://picaxeforum.co.uk/threads/the-picaxe-orrery.30868/ ( There was a better write-up in the blog, but that's gone now. ) If you only need Off-Red-Green, with only about 20...

    Garden Irrigator

I had the same problem with 'Paste for Forum', it displayed as formatting text, not coloured text. So I just did a normal copy, then pasted between the code tags. Came out B&W, but with indents as expected. I'll do some playing in the sandbox, might find a solution. Cheers, Buzby EDIT ...

Has anyone tried ultrasonic distance measurement by PICAXE alone, not using SRF005 etc ?

Hi Tex, There will be a few known sources of error that will limit resolution. 1 - As you say, the abolute limit of resolution will be determined by the wavelength of the ultrasonic. 2 - The variable response time of the PICAXE will add to the error 3 - Both the above will happen twice, once...

Has anyone tried ultrasonic distance measurement by PICAXE alone, not using SRF005 etc ?

I did try across the hotel car park, but after 5m my old eyes couldn't see the LED flashes which show it's receiving. It would be better in the dark, but I attracted enough attention in daylight, so I don't really want to try wandering round the car park at night. And for Alan, I'm not ready...

Has anyone tried ultrasonic distance measurement by PICAXE alone, not using SRF005 etc ?

First results ... The yellow trace shows the analogue signal received by the 'mobile' SR04, brought out from pin 10 on the SR04 CPU. The transmitter is about 8m away, the furthest I can get in my hotel room. The first lobe is the direct signal, and the second is an echo from a wall. ( The...

Has anyone tried ultrasonic distance measurement by PICAXE alone, not using SRF005 etc ?

Hi Alan, No idea at all !. I was hoping to start work on this tonight, but family stuff getting in the way. Give me till next weekend. I'm working away, and might attract some unwanted attention if I walk round Heathrow pointing electronic thingies this way and that. Cheers, Buzby

    Dessine moi l'heure!

Bonjour, I have not written any code yet, but last night I found an explanation of the maths ... This maths is complex to perform on a PICAXE, but it could be done using Excel. I suggest creating a speadsheet to generate the servo values for each X,Y point. Then you will be able to create...

    Feature request Named Pipe Plugin

What about this ?. Just a redirection of the stuff going to the PE6 terminal. It could even be part of the terminal code, thus not impacting the main PE6. I can't see this requiring much effort to implement, and it would make debugging in PE6 much easier. ( I'd really like DDE back, but then...
