    Help with LCD117

I remembered that the zipped file has .hex files so it's all ready for programming. I do have the mplab-x ide loaded. Now, I just have to wait until I have enough items for ordering from Mouser in order to offset the shipping costs. The chip that PHAnderson used is 16F1827.

    Help with LCD117

the code for LCD117 is in public domain, lcd117 has anyone tried programming a raw pic chip with the software? I have a PICkit 3 but I'm not sure what else is needed. In the instruction, phanderson it mentions "In order to compile and burn the firmware source code to a chip you will need a...

    Picaxe/Pi DataLogger

Hi Janne, exactly what Hippy says. Here is the information I used to get it working, Picaxe/Pi There are some slight changes, one I remember offhand is serial device name on the Pi changes depending on which image the Pi is using. Once set up programming the picaxe with pi works very smoothly.

    Picaxe/Pi DataLogger

I ran into an unexpected issue with my Pi/Picaxe combo, today temperatures plummeted to below 20 C, good time to check the robustness of modern electronics. I knew the picaxe would do just fine cause at least one of them took a ride in space. Surprisingly, the Pi shut down at 0 C. I was very...

Sound detector to detect hammer strikes

Gramps, I was just complementing the microphone module circuit, I used it to hook it up to a geophone, it's a device for detecting seismic activity. I only used to the first stage of the circuit with a modification, I placed a capacitor in parallel with the R17, the feedback resistor, that...

    Line/magnet follower

Edmunds, fascinating project. I have a very crazy idea based on magnetism. Adhere cassette tape to the board and have a cassette tape head on the bottom of the vehicle reading information from the tape. You would have to record data on the tape beforehand. The idea is not unlike credit card...

Sound detector to detect hammer strikes

Gramps, since you have the sparkfun microphone module you can alter the feedback resistor of the first amp stage, remove R3 and populate R17 with 1 Meg for maximum gain. I've been experimenting with that circuit in my geophone project and its rock steady. I did not have the posh LMV324 op amp on...

    Anyone Used Nextion Displays?

Thanks for the info, that makes a lot of sense. I have a number of those battery booster boxes and it does make sense to use it with a portable project. It's all self contained, charger, battery saver and regulator. I'll see if I wanna gamble with damaging the display, I know I will not gamble...

    Anyone Used Nextion Displays?

Thanks to all the forum members I have a nextion 2.4 working with a 14M2. My unit came with a micro USB adapter for powering the unit or testing, the instructions are a bit vague. There is a warning about using insufficient power supply leading to module failure. I ran the module on 3.3 Volts...

    Picaxe/Pi DataLogger

My best guess about integration is that it's averaging but that's a wild guess. Probably unnecessary step. The camera you got will work just fine, I've seen people using web cams for all sky cameras.

BTW, I love the new river cam, much sharper, looks great. Florida, not a bad place to be this time of year :-) I have not seen the fancy astronomical cameras up close. Here is a link to a site I like, Allsky and here is the camera used on that site, ZWO camera Just a little different sensor...

Here are a couple items for making an all sky camera, Dome Gasket There might be a need for a heater to keep condensation down, I was considering just having a desiccant inside the dome. The cameras you linked are excellent, great prices too, thanks. I've experimented with the Pi camera it...

    Picaxe/Pi DataLogger

Some of it is just habit, I'm comfortable and used to the picaxe. Also, this forum is the most helpful. Brilliant people are not overly rare, 1 out of 200 is a genius, what's rare is brilliant people willing to help. I am regularly astonished by the people on this forum, I received answers to...

    Picaxe/Pi DataLogger

Thanks everyone. I have had good success with SERRXD before so will stick with it. Murphy is always a concern. Thanks for your suggestions. Soon I'll be having difficult questions of interfacing OpAmp output to the Picaxe, analog processing is very difficult for me, textbook analog circuits...

    Picaxe/Pi DataLogger

Hello, I'm at a planning stage for a remote data logger and have a question. The project will be a Raspberry Pi attached to the programming inputs of a Picaxe, 20M2 or 20X2. I will be using Pi UART ttyS0 connected through an inverter to Picaxe programming pins. That's all tested and working. On...
