running a stepper using high/low, problem

Thanks for all the suggestions. Since I'm running the steppers, one at a time, I'll try the binary method and fool around with that. But before I do that, I'll speed the processor up to 32Mhz just to see if that gets rid of the pulsing, LED's, just out of curiosity. I would have been nice, if...

running a stepper using high/low, problem

Maybe someone can shed some light on this. I'm running two stepper motors using an 20M2 via two ULN2003 boards. You know the ones with the LED's' and connectors. I'm controlling the steppers by doing in a typical "high b.0: low b.1: high b.2: high b3 then a pause. This is done for every step. I...

Thank you very much. I'll do that and remember it in the future.

Program ceases running momentarily when serial comm. is interupted.

I was wondering if someone could explain this phenomena to me. I have a picaxe 08M running a stepper motor. The programming cable is connected from my laptop to the 08M serial port. The 08M program is running fine. When I turned on my laptop (windows XP) the 08m program stopped running for...

Connecting and programming a picaxe 20m2 to a kiosk (small printer) and also an lcd display (not together)

Of my searching on the internet, I could find no info. on how to connect/program a picaxe to a small printer. The guys on the picaxe forum helped a lot, as I am no expert. There is also an LCD program. All the programs have been tested using the PDF wiring schematics. KEEP IN MIND, THE PICAXE...

picaxe to lcd display, not do-able

See attached programs and PDF file. This is using all eight parallel lines, enable and RS with a common 16 character, 2 line LCD. The chip is a 20m2. The Forum helped me solve the printing problem, but you won't be using that program.

Parallel printing with a 20m2 picaxe

Well, it's printing. I'd like to thank the guy's on the forum. Alleycat, westaust, neiltechspec, papaof2, buzby and technical support for helping out. I'm attaching the program for the printer and an LCD display (not connected to the printer), also a PDF of the printer hook up and an LCD hook...

Parallel printing with a 20m2 picaxe

Westaust55: I ran your program this morning. I had to put the CR inside the brackets and change the 15 to 10. Now, comes the interesting part. It just printed out 'Hello World.' I incremented the PAUSE by 100 and kept increasing it until I got to 900, at which time it printed out 'Hello World'...

Parallel printing with a 20m2 picaxe

I replaced 'Hello World' with aAbBcCdDeE and it did indeed print out the lower and upper case letters, but that's as far as it got. I don't know if it did a carriage return. The text that's printed out is buried inside and you can't tell whats been printed till you do 4 or 5 linefeeds (thats...

Parallel printing with a 20m2 picaxe

Technical: Doing the let pinsB=12 did nothing and doing data 20, ("abcdefgh",13,"ABCDEFGH",13) only printed out the abcdefgh. Alleycat: It printed out 'Hello World' and tha'ts as far as it got. I'll check the data lines tomorrow.

    I'll try that, tomorrow. Thanks.

Parallel printing with a 20m2 picaxe

Allycat: This is the real problem, I don't know how to sent a carriage return or anything else to the display. Can you post how the command would be written in a picaxe program? I've tried so send the commands in every possible way in the picaxe program. As far as a data line being screwed up...

    picaxe to lcd displays

I understand how frustrating it can be trying to get something to work. Attached is a picaxe program that will put text in the top line and variable data in the second line of a 16 character, 2 line. parallel display. Its composed by splicing several snippets together, that I had gotten from the...

Parallel printing with a 20m2 picaxe

It has a manual. It's just a generic printer (see attached PDF). And that's the whole problem "method of delivery." It would have been nice if picaxe had a "print" command for parallel printers. I also tried to print upper case letters and numbers and other symbols. No dice. It only prints...

Parallel printing with a 20m2 picaxe

Thank you for replying. The printer has no manufacturer, but can be set up to emulate a Citizen 560 or Epson ESC/POS. I've tried sending command codes to the printer but they are ignored. Also, the printer will not print unless all 40 characters are sent out. it will then print out the 40...

Parallel printing with a 20m2 picaxe

I'll try to send both commands. Going by the internet, I guess no one has connected a parallel printer (kiosk printer)to a picaxe before. It's no big deal, as I have no pressing projects, its just that they have been lying around for 10 or 15 years and I hate to see them wasted. Thanks for your...

Parallel printing with a 20m2 picaxe

No. It didn't come with any software. Although this model is for a parallel connection the manual only discussed serial communications. I tried to send all the commands in decimal and hex with no response and I tried to print only 10 characters instead of the usual test of forty and the printer...

Parallel printing with a 20m2 picaxe

I was wondering if someone could give me a hand with a program. What I have is 40 character (page width), parallel input, kiosk printer. it's been around since 1995. The only usable signal lines are the eight data bits and a strobe line. I have no problem sending text to the printer and it...
