Many thanks everyone for the replies. I am going to do some tinkering and see what I can get working with an RTC module. I will post my results as soon as I have something.
Thanks again!
Hi All
I am trying to reduce the hardware needed to run my Nixie Clocks by using a PICAXE to generate the 1Hz clock signal.
I know there is the I2C option with an accurate external clock source but I want to modify an existing clock which uses an old 16C84 I built back in my college days so no...
Hi
I quite often attach my project board to a small piece of MDF and take fly leads to screw down terminal block which has made prototyping much easier.
In my lasertag project I actually made a header for a board such as RKP28C to fit directly onto the main board as a riser. This allowed the...
Hi Nissanman
The PICAXE MP3 player kit SPE035 may do this without any external hardware. It has a series of pushbuttons which could do what you describe.
Hi 4jaba6
The receivers are TSOP31240 40KHz IR receivers. The infrared LEDs are Vishay TSAL6200. The laser is only used for aiming and sends no data. Positioned above the laser is the infrared LED which is fitted with a small lens and recessed into a tube for optimal focal length.
The TSAL6200...
I bought a few from amazon to use in my PICAXE lasertag game, they've been ok so far.

Although these appear less than 5mW
I design all my PCBs or veroboard circuits with a ISP 3 pin SIL header and use my dinky adapter I made with the download socket and 3 pin DuPont connector on the end. Works a treat.
I use a constant current driver in my laser tag system and get good range from a single IR led. I can't remember the part number at the moment but I'll post it later.

Hi Hippy
That's good advice, there are several boxes which I could do to remove the screen print from. I plan to recycle some old cases for a Tesla coil controller I'm building.
The boxes I used for this project have the details embossed into it so can't be removed. I also learnt that you...
I looked at those on RS but shuddered at the price. I made a compromise with these. They do have some manufacturers info on the clear part and other info so not as clean as the ones Hippy mentions.
These were £12 each from my local electrical distributor.
Hi All
I have recently completed my prototype PICAXE Lasertag project. I did in the past work for Laser Quest as an Electronics Engineer and always fancied building my own kit, I then had kids which gave me an excuse!
Some info:
System is based on PICAXE 20M2 of which each pack has 3. The...
Thanks Papaof2
I'm thinking of using a car washer pump and a flow sensor so relatively low pressure but reasonably "fast" pulses.
I will give it a go and see what I get.
Hi all
I have a project in mind where I need to measure the flow (and thus quantity) of a liquid and stop pump at a predetermined amount.
I am thinking of using Hall effect flow sensors. These do output rather fast pulses when the pump is running.
Are there any pitfalls to be aware when using...
