    Please be gentle!

ok total newb question, I used to have a serial cable (intil my work mates chucked it!) so purchased a USB cable last week. I also purchased the breadboard adaper. Do I still need to supply a separate 5V to the chip for download? I have plugged the cable in to the PC and to the adapter and...

    18M2 issue

thanks everyone. I was a bit confused as I thought a 9V input on c.5 would have killed the whole chip. However, the output pins are all working. Does that mean that each pin essentially works in isolation when it comes to input voltage?

    18M2 issue

Hi, I have an 18M2 with a script which has run successfully in the past. HOwever, after not looking at it for a number of years I think I may have fried my chip and wondered if anyone could advise? the 18M2 chip has b.0 to b.7 as output, c.0, c.1 and c.06 and c.07 as output c.4 is input with...

    pcb and picaxe

it may also be pretty poor, but this is the schematic that I came up with Thats strange, the ground to the LEDs (the detached bargraph) has been chopped off, but it is there in the schematic

    pcb and picaxe

ok, here is my "final prototype" . Can anyone see major issues? points to note: -Serial In is tied to ground as the download will be done on a breadboard -Ground flood will replace the ground track -capacitors between power pins and either side of regulator -each LED (tip and blink) have...

    pcb and picaxe

Many thanks for all the answers! It is an led chaser sequence for a "laser gun", which is designed to start on a switch. There is an interrupt pin on C.07 to initiate another sequence for the firing. To keep costs down I am going to try the board myself using the ironing method (I assume the...

    pcb and picaxe

Hi, Have been using straight tracked circuit boards till now with a ton on soldered wires. However I now want to try to tidy all that up with a designed PCB. I am using design spark and have included the pickaxe libraries. I have added the 28x1 chip as well as the resistors required but the...

    28X1 coding issue

Hi folks, I am using a 28x1 chip. Can anyone tell me how to check for input on A.0 - A.3? I have tried searching and all of the answers come up with a check error. I have outputs working by accessing B.0 - B.7 and portc 0 - portc 6 (portc 7 is an interrupt pin - unless this can also be...
