    HV series PIC

Full agreement about Picaxe, I'm pretty much done with the compiler adventure, it's good to have it as a helper chip to picaxe, for driving complex lcd displays or fancy LEDs, maybe for math functions, no way will it be for daily use or when I want to put together something quick. Picaxe people...

    HV series PIC

I finally got around to scoping RA4 with the CLKOUTEN=ON, I'm measuring 2 MHz. After that I went and removed the two WAIT commands and measured the frequency at A2 (pin 5) measured 333 KHz. I went another step and instead of using WAIT commands I used an empty loop instead #chip 12HV752, 8...

Will do. Honestly, reason I posted it here is because of sheer level of brilliance, friendliness and kindness. Nothing like this forum anywhere. My communication is strictly read only on the rest of the internet.

    HV series PIC

I will give that a try later today. I have some success to report, MPLAB X and XC8 installed and LED blinking away. I will dissect the asm file and compare it with the GCB. All I did was modify an example blink program I found on the web and made adjustments for the 12HV752 chip. Took some...

    HV series PIC

I have been using a Vcc of 5V direct but did try it with a 10 ohm in series between 5V and Vcc pin and got same result. I have a .1 uF bypass cap. Thanks for the program snippet, I ran it and all it does is turn the LED on and it stays on, no flashing. In my program I was using, Set PORTA.2...

    HV series PIC

I can get the LED to turn on or off when it's connected to 5v directly and programming with pickit3 completes fine. It has a 13 bit program counter and can only address 8K which isn't a big deal. I have to reinstall MPLAB X and try my luck.

    HV series PIC

Thanks Goeytex I have tried GCB and PK3 and no luck, as a sanity check i tried a 12F1840 (of course changed #chip for a different pic) and all worked well, it's the first chip i have had issues with using GCB. haven't found many examples for 12HV752 on the web. I'll fire up MPLABX and see if I...

    HV series PIC

Looks like the microchip famine is passing, I just got a big shipment of 08M2 chips, albeit they are labeled 12F1840, I have to be careful not to confuse them with my small cache of non picaxe types. My experimentation with basic compilers is winding down, way too buggy and documentation is poor...

    Solar powered Pond pump

I bet there will be a "one weird trick" that will allow a car to drive coast to coast on a single lithium sulfur battery.

Serial LCD display for PIC projects ?

I had to reach out to the Positron to get the flashing working with my chip. Had a response within a day and the chip is flashing away, very good customer support. Positron seems to be for the more knowledgeable user. What I want to use the compilers is for remote sensors, using a picaxe for a...

Serial LCD display for PIC projects ?

Well, I tried the OshonSoft, nice that he let's you try before buy, led blinking away in 10 minutes time. I'm not sure how much better it is than GCB, I'll play with it some more.

Serial LCD display for PIC projects ?

There is a way to get sleep to work in GCB using watchdog timer it's a pretty involved subroutine, I'm liking your method of just slowing the clock down. I am ready to throw in the towel as far as positron, spent many hours trying to get an led to flash. Once the chip shortage subsides I'll...

Serial LCD display for PIC projects ?

I have the latest Positron and have struggled to flash an LED, after many attempts i have it working but very poorly. I'm very underwhelmed, GCB is by far easier and Picaxe runs circles around them both.

Serial LCD display for PIC projects ?

I perused the positron manual and it's very much like picaxe, serial communication looks almost as good and it has sleep which is a pain in GCB. I can't find sertxd which is brilliant in picaxe and really good for troubleshooting. It's easy enough to set up a serial port for sending data but...

Serial LCD display for PIC projects ?

Thanks very much for your suggestions. I too have managed to get things working in GCB but it's not easy, lots of trial and error and it takes time taking the chip out and moving it to a programmer. I will certainly look for your guides on the forum that is nowhere as helpful as the picaxe...
