    40X1 dirsb syntax

Hi, I am using a picaxe 40x1 on an axe091 board. Trying to set all the pins with "let dirsb=255" results in a syntax error and yet dirsc works. I have looked through the manuals, and I can't seem to find out why. BTW if I use a 40x2 it works! Any help, or explanation or equivalent would be...

    My finished projects

Thank you for so much inspiration. I am fascinated with your valve power supply. It brings back many warm memories. A few years ago I re-built mine, but the problem I had was finding the right valves. Regards john

    Voltage changes program execution-How

Personally I prefer to keep the voltage slightly on the low side (4.9v) It doesn't take much of a pulse at 5.3v to do permanent damage.

    Analogue / Radio advice needed. I've built something I don't understand :-)

Hi, sorry this is rather hurried but just about toi shut off computer. The radio modules in clocks use a 60kHz ferrite rod, perhaps you could use one and parallel more capacitors to achieve resonance. john

    Magnetic lock

Hi Mark, without a diagram it is not simple. However from my own experiences and from reading many posts on here, the usual culprits are lack of decoupling capacitors, lack of back emf diodes across things like the lock coil and the lock driver transistor or fet not big enough for the task...

    Postage Costs ?

Hi, I think also the 20% vat doesn't help customers either. When you consider taxes that people pay, it's staggering. It's not really fair to blame a company for postal charges. Regards john

    rigol dm3058e Bench meter

Hi, I did find a service manual for this online, which looks pretty comprehensive but no circuit that I could see. Beware if you are returning something as faulty. A friend of mine returned a rather expensive scope, which was deemed as a "user induced". He ended up paying a stupidly large...

Hi Alan, yes, the more I try and remember..... All the ones I built years ago, must have had that program put into them. Thanks for the reply though. Regards john

    28x2 problem (or not)

Hi, I recently built four AXE401s that I had, along with some 28x2s that I got a few weeks ago. It's so long since I built any of the AXE401 boards, that I can't remember if the led is supposed to flash. They all announce themselves in the terminal. Could you please refresh my memory? Thanks John

    slow editor

Hi, if it's any consolation my three pcs all show the same thing (not responding) etc. If you wait, they work. But as you say it's agonisingly slow. Mine have only started to do this since about three windows updates ago. I also get delays in explorer if I right click on any file to show...

Easy, Cheesy 433 MHz Radio Link

I was about to say that where I live, about a mile away from a 70cm repeater that is very high up, I had awful problems with 433 modules being swamped, even by car key fob transmitters. Another thing the operating near the amateur satellite frequencies is dubious. After all though, in the uk the...
