Sound detector to detect hammer strikes

I sure didn't read the literature very well thanks for the input I got two of them for $5 so maybe I can use them somewhere else along the line perhaps on my next car door alarm haha. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_cartridge I've been reading about magnetic cartridges is there a...

Sound detector to detect hammer strikes

Here's an update. We cleaned the strings on the dulcimer with fine sandpaper and connected each string pair between the pin and ground. Using a hammer with fine stranded wire taped on the edge we were getting 99 to 100% positive sequencing. My wife said I cannot use her gramophone for any...

E Would we need 35 LM567's( to cover 35 string pairs) and 35 pickaxe pins to read them?

Sound detector to detect hammer strikes

Benson said , I am still thinking about how to detect a new strike before the ringing of the previous one has settled. My little Snark tuner can read an individual note very accurately but it can only read one note at a time

Sound detector to detect hammer strikes

35 $0.43 IR sensors would be about $15. Mounting one on each pair of strings would be a challenge!

lBenson, I really appreciate your sound detector test setup and want to run some tests with the module we have but have been absolutely buried. Hardly had time to even play my dulcimer yet alone work on this project!
